  So just how exactly did 'man' rearrange the animal kingdom and 'screw it up'? You mean man made lions eat gazelles, and big fish eat little fish? And please don't run the 'Satan changed the animals' crap by me - it's VERY clear that the entire world runs on a 'eat or be eaten' cycle - this did not 'morph' from some other arrangements. Even eating vegitation is killing something. We kill to survive, plain and simple.

  What in the hell are you talking about? Who said anything about 'man' rearranging the animal kingdom? Unless you mean..oh, now I get it, you think man is part of the animal kingdom...we too are part of animal cycle of 'eat or be eaten'...well, I guess if you think of yourself as an animal I guess it is VERY clear that's the way your world runs...NOT MINE...to quote The Elephant Man - "I am not an animal". My highly intelligent dog has been around my computers for over ten years, and you know what? --- Not once have I caught him on the internet.

  And yes, man lives and dies my the same rules. Invading armies concur new territories. "THROUGHOUT HISTORY THE MIGHTY AND EVIL HAVE FALLEN" - yes they have, and how? Someone else kills them. While maybe that 'someone else' is weaker in numbers, strength, etc - they are stronger in other ways - guile, surprise, plain old luck, etc. Even in the animal world sometimes a lion chokes on a gazelle bone and dies so the strong don't always win, but they almost always do.

  You're really caught up in the 'kill' jag...

  Sorry, but I've never felt sorry for a 'dead' but delicious carrot.

  History is history, there are too many times that the pendulum has swung back out of something more that 'pure luck' - - so we view it differently. I see the hand of Providence, you see the hand of Godzilla.

  and if so , did you convert ?

  were you afraid to go to another organized religion?

  LyinEyes - I'm not an Ex-JW (or JW), so I can't speak from that experience, however I agree with the previous comments from AGuest. Don't be so hard on yourself...live your life, seek after good and positive things. If I were in your shoes, I would keep it simple and read the Gospels..Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (I especially like John).. To me they speak from The Saviour. I like the other books, but I think people get caught up in the various interpretations and start sounding like Pharesses and scribes with jots and tittles. When I read The Gospels, sometimes I feel like I'm transported back to that time and I'm peeking in on how Jesus handled his journey on this earth (like we must do). By praying, exercising a little faith, answers do come, a little at a time and in their own, right season.

  There is a non-demoniational little magazine called "Guideposts" that a friend of my gets (I get them second hand). I enjoy reading it. They're inspirational stories from everyday people in their spiritual 'quests' ... I think it could be a 'positive' in your life and might point you in the direction you wish to explore. Just a thought.

  Run that past me a little slower?

  The point I was making was mankind and the animal kingdom are different. History proves that it's not always the strong who succeed or dominate...if it did we would have killed ourselves long ago. Go back to the Pelopennesian War (Athens and Sparta), the Goths, Huns, Vlad the Impaler, Spanish Armada...etc. etc. Even the 20th century, the bloodiest in history, the largest, best trained most dominate military force in history was defeated. In other words mankind will constantly swing the pendulum between good and evil, but if evil goes too far towards the destruction of Gods plans, inevitable it swings back.

  Who cares what religion "sells". Truth is Truth and will speak to those who will take the time to 'listen'. Besides, that is such a broad stroke of a statement, not all religion 'sells' God that way. Also, why even refer to the Watchtower CD...that's like Columbus following the maps of a world that's flat....what's the point.

  SmWick: I think God's love is totally unconditional. By our actions, I believe we can keep God from blessing us, but we can never keep Him from loving us. you quote John 15:10 "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love..." I read that different than you... I don't think He's saying if you don't keep my commandments I won't love you...that's ridiculous...Jesus's actions throughout the new testament prove otherwise...just look at the way he treated people...almost every one were commandment breakers.

  I equate John 15:10 to something like... I you eat right and work out you shall be healthy... your ability 'to do' increases. I think the key words in that scripture are 'shall abide'... meaning your ability to have faith, the ability to tap in to that power is there...when we don't keep the commandments, our ability diminishes and so does the sustaining power. IMHO

  JW's Claim the Truth...Where's the Proof

  ok, i'm a senior member, but still 'new' to this board.

  since i'm not a jw or ex-jw, can someone please explain to me how jw's trace their 'authority' to be the true church that god set up.

  a jw friend of mine said they go back 6,000 years.

  Ok, I'm a senior member, but still 'new' to this board. Since I'm not a JW or Ex-JW, can someone please explain to me how JW's trace their 'authority' to be the True Church that God set up. A JW friend of mine said they go back 6,000 years. How's that possible? I thought Charles Russel was in the late 1800's. How can they claim their history goes back that far (much less 2,000 years to the time of Christ.) What am I missing? Who says they're the Truth except themselves? The Catholics claim the truth through Peter and the Apostles...the Protestants too, except they say the Catholics got off track and they put the Church back on track. Even the Mormans say God restored the original Church through a visitation by God and Peter, James and John...whether you believe any of those claims or not, at least those that do believe have a 'link' to the original Church. How does the JW's get back past the Bible Students...?

  When people stop trying to pidgeon hole God in "he's this way" or "he's that way" or "why does he allow such and such" or "he should be...." or "the bible says this and the bible says that" --- when you stop and consider the creation, the universe, and all the wonderful positive things that make up life itself (I know, it's hard)...when you do that and exercise just the tiniest bit of faith that Someone bigger than yourself, your friends or mankind in general reallycares about you and you journey in this life ... then the question will be easily answered.
